Our latest technologies
Our various research centers, mainly located in Europe and in North America, maintain and develop key, high-level technologies for the Group. Sperian Protection owns hundreds of patents worldwide, for innovative technologies, product design and industrial processes.

Howard Leight introduced QuietDose™,
the only personal dosimeter that measures and records a worker’s actual in-ear exposure to noise over an entire work shift. The introduction is a major advance towards stopping the progression of occupational hearing loss and ensuring employer compliance with hearing safety regulations.
The QuietDose system consists of a small Exposure Smart Protector™ (ESP) Dosimeter that is worn by employees in a shirt pocket or on the back of a hardhat; protective eartips or an earmuff with integrated microphones that record real-time in-ear noise levels; and a connecting harness. An infrared reader enables safety managers to retrieve data from the ESP Dosimeter at the end of each shift of work week and analyze the results on a personal computer.
QuietDose provides the ultimate in accuracy for assessment of personal workplace noise risk and enables Safety Managers to create the most customized and effective Hearing Conservation Programs for each worker.

Sperian Protection launched Dura-streme™ dual-coating technology,
a revolutionary coating technology for safety eyewear and goggles. Previously, customers were limited to one coating per lens – either anti-fog or anti-scratch. Dura-streme™ dual-coating technology delivers the industry’s best anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings on the same lens, providing optimal performance in environments where heavy physical exertion is typical and where heat, mist, sand, dust and chemicals are common.
Proprietary anti-scratch coating gives premium scratch and chemical resistance on the outer surface. Proprietary anti-fog coating keeps vision clear on the inner surface in humid environments where heavy physical exertion is typical, by combining moisture absorbing and releasing properties with high moisture repulsion, helping users to see clearly in hot, humid conditions. Both coatings are permanently bonded to the lens for long-lasting performance even after repeated cleaning. With innovative Dura-streme™ technology, customers benefit from anti-fog lenses that last up to three times longer, according to comparative lens life tests.

The Miller TurboLite™ Personal Fall Limiter (PFL)
provides a lightweight, cost-effective alternative to shock-absorbing lanyards for fall protection. This new performance-driven, PFL or self-retracting lifeline is compact and lightweight, so that workers no longer need to ‘switch-out’ equipment to maintain a safe fall distance. It meets global standards for international companies.
Its lightweight design provides 6 feet of working capacity lifeline; the unit attaches directly to the harness back D-ring for greater mobility. Its engineered webbing provides greater abrasion resistance and a long service life. It also provides high strength, impact-resistant nylon housing for maximum durability.
Miller TurboLite™ PFL creates added value for people working at height: it eliminates the need for different fall protection equipment to address changes in fall clearance and increases safety by knowing workers are not in danger when jobsite conditions change.

The new Miller SafEscape™ Rescue/Descend Device
is the next generation global solution for rescue/descend. Only unit in the market with extended service life – 7-year interval before an unused unit is required for recertification – it both lowers ownership costs and enhances safety.
When rescuing or evacuating a worker at height, safety is essential. This is the reason why the Miller SafEscape™ ELITE Rescue/Descend Device is user-friendly and can be used to rescue up to two persons. Made for self-rescue, assisted rescue, it is also designed for multiple descents to permit the evacuation of multiple workers or during training sessions requiring repetitive use. Manufactured with highly resistant yet lightweight components (high quality anodized aluminium housing), it makes handling the equipment easier during emergencies. The position and conception of the wheel reduce swinging during lifting operations and make evacuation procedures easier. This new global solution for safe and quick rescue meets all applicable safety standards globally.

Optrel p500 Series
is a new line of innovative optoelectronic welding helmets designed by Sperian to meet the needs of professional as well as occasional welders. Customizable thanks to their lateral inserts, Sperian p500 welding helmets combine high quality protection, comfort and design. These optoelectronic helmets provide a brand-new approach for welders, who can now use the interchangeable and replaceable inserts to customize their equipment.
Modern and attractive, ergonomic and lightweight, the helmet shell has been developed to fulfil the highest requirements in terms of comfort. Its design also optimizes weight distribution to eliminate neck strain for the welder.
With the introduction of this new technology, Sperian is meeting the raising demand for personalized and design welding protection.

Sperian Biosystems PHD6™
is a state of the art multi-gas detector. Very versatile with 5 sensor ports and up to 6 channels of detection and more than 19 sensor options including electrochemical, LIE, PID and infrared sensors, the Biosystems PHD6 is a powerful ally to help keep people safe in confined space.
This reliable and highly configurable gas detector monitors up to six atmospheric hazards simultaneously. Its sensors are available for oxygen, combustible gas, volatile organic compounds, and several different toxic gases. To give users immediate access to everything from time to calibration status, it offers automatic calibration, menu control over all instrument settings and a status bar with easily-understood icons at the bottom of the LCD.
To cut gas calibration expenses and facilitate the monitoring of results, the Biosystems IQ6 Express™ Docking Station has been developed to ensure a high capacity data processing. This automatic calibration station is a data download center for the PHD6 gas detector.
